•    Always pay your monthly bills on time.  It might seem like common sense advice, but you’d be surprised at how often consumers forget to pay their bills when applying for bad credit loans.  Perhaps it’s because they believe that once they’ve been given the “bad credit” label, then there’s no point in continuing good credit practices.  Set up automatic monthly payments to ensure that all of your bills are taken care of on time.

•    Whatever you do, don’t close any of your credit cards.  A major part of your credit score is comprised of your debt-to-credit ratio; therefore, if you close out a credit card, you’ll make your credit look worse than what it actually is.
